Talk: "Beyond the Relaxation Response"

Date: Tuesday 7th November, 7pm - 9pm

Venue: Hinde Street Church, 19 Thayer Street, London W1U 2QJ

"Join us at Hinde Street Church for this talk about new scientific insights into meditation, given by Peter McLoughlin. In 1975, Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard Medical School ushered in a new era of scientific understanding in the field of meditation. He coined the phrase ‘Relaxation Response’ because the changes in adrenaline, cortisol, blood pressure etc. were the opposite of what happened in the stress or ‘fight or flight’ response. Now a new era has dawned. The latest research shows conclusively that mind-body techniques such as meditation can influence the body all the way down to the genetic level. In this engaging and enlightening talk you will discover that your mind has the ability to change the way your body, brain and genes function".

Entry is free and all are welcome; donations to help towards the cost of the event will be welcome. If you would like more information, please see here or contact us on 020 7034 4000.

Just This Day

Annual event: day of meditation

Date: Wed 22nd November, 8.30am - 12 noon

Venue:  St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JH

"Just this Day is an annual day when we invite YOU to join others in meditation, putting your differences aside in the belief that doing this will bring peace and harmony closer.

Everyone who stops even for a few moments, or minutes, begins to feel the sensation of slowing down, letting themselves come to stillness. It is a relief, a step away from the constant activity of our lives, and it is often described as blissful. It helps you connect with yourself, and with others."

Main event will be at St.Martin-in-the-Fields, consisting of talks, silence, music and meditation. See here for more details.
